A chilly November day!

Today is blustery and cold outside. No we don't have all that snow yet...but it's coming. Above is a picture of our backyard last year. BRRRR!

Going to bundle up to go out today...shopping with my Mom (my Bestest Friend). We're always on the lookout for the perfect Christmas gift...even if it's for ourselves - lol. We help each other spend for sure. I have a long list to buy for so I've got to start early.

Last night I tagged along with my Mom and Nephew to see Megamind. It was my first 3D experience... it really was awesome! My Nephew was so cute...at the end when they played Michael Jackson's "Bad", he got up and was dancing. We had a hoot!

There has been a lot of stuff going on at work...my friend and co-worker is leaving -- she's taken a new job. I am going to miss her terribly...we've worked together for 10+ years and cried on one another shoulders many times. I've also learned a lot from her. She's a wonderful broker who cares about her clients as if they were her friends. I don't think it's really going to hit me till she's gone. :-(

I know that everything has to change. I am just not great at dealing with it.

Speaking of change...they're coming out with a new Weight Watcher's Program. I am super excited. I can't wait! They're not launching for two more weeks! I've done some snooping on the internet, the program is out in the UK. So I do have some idea of what's coming. I really never liked the current program...I lost on Selection plan (which is so long ago). Looking forward to embracing the new program and getting myself to a healthy goal. So I'll have to fire up the other blog.

I just looked out the window...and it's SNOWING! I kind of like it now...but know after December...I'll be longing for spring.

Happy weekend to all!

I am such a bad blogger. I've neglected to post since July! BAD! I mean to post regularly but you know what they say about good intentions.

I wish I had some exciting news to tell...but I don't...maybe that's my problem.

Tonight I got my DH to go for a walk with me. Fall was in the air. The smell of night, the leaves and someone having a fire....I love fall. I was back in time to watch Grays. Just started watching last season and I am totally hooked. How about you? What do you like to watch?

For my birthday last month...my DH bought me a SERGER! I don't have it yet...it's on order. I can't wait. It has pre-set tension. I have a Singer right now but I've never been able to figure out the right tension...so it's been sitting in a closet for the last, oh...14 years. I have a Kenmore sewing machine, which I've had since I was 17 (my parents got it for me as a high school graduation gift). It's a great machine...I still love it. I am excited about the new machine. I'll have to post some pics once it arrives.

Work has been crazy...I wish I could turn it off in my head. I am constantly thinking about stuff I have to get done and remembering stuff I've forgotten. Feeling very unorganized. I keep trying to focus and get on top of things...get a system. But I keep drowning in it. Just too much to do and not enough hours to do it in. I know some people feel the work days, weeks drag on...mine FLY! I cannot believe how quick the day goes. I really don't know where the time goes...instead of thinking "good, it's 5pm quiting time", Iam thinking "OMG IT'S 5PM! Just one more thing". It's not good. I just keep trying to do 10 things at once...it's not really workin for me. I got to do some work on how I do things.

Okay...I feel better now I vented.

Well...TGIF tomorrow. Have a wonderful weekend. I promise to post more regularly. REALLY!

Cheers

Summer has got a good head start, the kids are out of school, my morning drive to work is pleasant without the normal traffic...holiday time for a lot of people. Yet I was in the mall Thursday night and they've got the school supplies on display & all the summer stuff is on clearance....a reminder that summer is short - so ENJOY.

Yesterday was also the beginning of the summer office hours - we close at 3:30pm on Fridays now till the 1st Friday of September. But...I worked until 6:30...it's called being buried and having a week to clean up your desk before you go for holiday. Not thrilled about working extra unpaid hours. :-( Are holidays really worth it? I wonder. It's busy as work, plus for all of July we have someone off, so you're short handed as well plus it's busy at home.

After I got home...skipped the gym cause it was too late by that time...we went for supper at Turtle Jacks. They have amazing Bruschetta. We shared the appetizer and I had a lovely Greek Salad for supper. It was delicious and the staff there are great.

Then I dragged Mike to Indigo...I've been looking for a book by Dr. Wanye Dyer which they didn't have. I bought another of his books instead: You'll See It When you Believe It - The Way to Your Personal Transformation.

I want to be Transformed. I'm really not liking "me". Which a friend told me is sad. I just wish I was different. I wish I didn't worry so much, that I was braver, stronger, oh yeah...and perfect. I know I know...not possible...so I wish I could let the Perfect thing go. I have a library of SELF HELP on my book shelf. You'd think I'd have it all down by now...but it seems the more I read, the more confused I become.

It looks lovely outside...so I'd better get my butt in gear and get out there.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Canada Day Weekend and I got the Blues...

I don't know what is wrong with me. Been feeling a particular indigo shade lately and just can't seem to shake it. Poke a stick at your pain and it makes it worse. Sometimes leaving it alone and you can live with it. Okay...next topic...

This is Canada Day weekend! WOOHOO. Except that it didn't turn out that way. The holiday this year fell on a Thursday...so it was work MTW and off Th, back in F. Weird but got lots of cleaning and laundry done on the holiday. My God I have to GET A LIFE!

After a BBQ supper for two...we went for a drive into the city and stopped in at It's Your Festival in Gage Park. We walked around and checked out the arts and crafts. I really liked some of the garden decorations. There was a cat birdhouse I really liked. Didn't buy, just admired.

Yesterday after a very frustrating day...I baked some Banana Cupcakes. They kinda taste like banana bread but much less dense.

I used this recipe and instead of buttermilk (which I didn't have) I used sour cream:

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Canada Day Weekend and to our American Friends - Happy 4th of July!

It's a rather gray day outside. But there is a lovely breeze and no humidity. Perfect for turning off the air and opening the windows.

Last weekend was a busy one. We had a BBQ for my Dad on Saturday night. Got to see my nieces and nephews too (they're all so adorable). Sunday morning we were out for a lovely buffet breakfast for my Step-Dad. We went to Barangas-on-the-Beach and sat out on the patio (and cooked ourselves it was so sunny and hot...but hey this is Canada and we have to enjoy it while we can). Then Sunday afternoon we were at my sister-in-law's for a 4th Birthday party for my nephew.

So while I loved spending time with my people, I am very happy to have some "down" time this weekend. Last night I got home from work totally drained from the week. It happens all too often. By Friday night I can't think anymore -- the brain goes mush.

We watched a weird movie last night...Steven King's Dream Catcher. It got a little gross...correction, it got VERY gross! If you walked into a cabin and it had this red fungus growing everywhere, what would you do? I don't mind telling you, I would RUN...wouldn't think twice! I was yelling at the tv....these guys deserve to get their face eaten by an alien. RUN FOREST RUN! lol.

Today I have a pedicure booked for this morning. Thinking french with a flower. Right now they're disco glitter red. I love to have pretty toes. This aft I'll be shopping with my Mom. I just love Saturdays!

I seen a specialist this week and he recommends surgery for my gall bladder. I am nervous because it's SURGERY but from what I hear it's a piece of cake...in and out the same day. And I think I will feel a lot better. I had a severe attach in January...I was in terrible pain for a good 12 hours. It started a short while after supper and got so bad that I wasn't able to sleep at all...tossed and turned until at 6am I'd had enough and made Mike take me to the hospital...at the time I had no idea what was wrong with me. I do not want to go through that pain again and I am told it can happen anytime. So while I am apprehensive...I am starting to seriously think about having it done.

Kind of a mixed entry but that's my life...all mixed up. I wish I had a road map.

Have a lovely weekend.

Cheers,
KLP

The Weekend!

This has felt like a very long work week. Between meetings, seminars & being short staffed while the rest of the crew was out...I just feel exhausted. After we got home I retired to the Lazy Boy and proceeded to watch some movie I've seen before (I can't even remember what I watched and it's driving me nuts). I stayed up too late and now I feel like I've got a hangover...hello Advil.

Anyway, enough of my complaining. It's the weekend! It's SATURDAY! I am going to try to post at least once a week...we'll see how well that goes.

I wanted to share that I've finished one of my many books. I realize now why I read so many things at once...it's cause I hate getting to the end. I feel like I've lost something when it's done. Is that weird or what? I get emotionally attached to the Characters and then suddenly it's over.

I did enjoy - A Paris Moment by Gordon Cope. When I bought the book and read the sleeve to find not only is the author from Hamilton but wrote about his year living in Paris! I had to get it. I enjoyed the journey and experiences of what it might be like to live in my favorite city. I wouldn't want to leave and I know they didn't want to either.

Gordon Cope also has a web site where he shares his Paris...including some recipes of food he made in the book: www.aparismoment.com/Author.html

Now I am on to another "Paris" book...I've just started reading it so I'll share more about it as I get into it.

Have a fabulous weekend!

What a bad blogger I've been. I am so inspired by so any other blogs I read...I really should be more consistent with my entries.

Lately I just seem to have too many things on the go and my energy is so scattered. Do you feel like that too?

I get angry with myself that I'll have 4 books + countless magazines (I am such a magazine junkie) and that I don't manage to finish anything. I've have got to focus more and finish things. I hate that it takes me a year to read a book because I am so scattered.

Can you hear the goals coming:

- finish reading the stockpile of books BEFORE you buy more!
- same with sewing projects...no more trips to the fabric store to buy NEW patterns & more Fabric until I've finished the project currently sitting by my machine.
- keep my food journal...how the heck can you tell where you're coming off the rails if you don't watch what you're doing!
- up the exercise - doing usually 2 times a week at the gym + walking the odd days...need to get in something/anything on a daily basis. You've got to MOVE IT MOVE IT!
- be thankful every every day. Miss Grumpy pants. You're so blessed - remember that!
- and lastly...Blog...share...be creative, be interesting, be fun!

Okay...that's what I am working on right now. I'll re-visit and check in to see how I am doing. As was the topic of our last WW Meeting...Knowledge is Power....IF YOU USE IT.

Have a great Saturday!

I've been surfing for great blogs and recipe sites. I actually surf on many interests from cooking, blogging, photography, sewing and scrapbooking. I love the blogs the most! Since I've been keeping journals since forever...I enjoy reading the blogs.

Here are some of my favorite cooking blogs and recipe sites:

http://thepioneerwoman.com/

Wonderful site, the instructions are broken down (with PICTURES) and it's simple, yummy food...just what I like. The entries are very entertaining and humorous. Lots of other information and stories there too.

http://www.skinnytaste.com/

Gina's WW Recipes is another web site I enjoy and have successfully made the Potato Leek Soup which was so delicious and simple. Lots of great low cal recipes. The photos are great as well.

http://cooklikeyourgrandmother.com/

Need I say more...everyone knows Grandma's are the best cooks (Mum's too). I love the breakdown of the recipes...photos and instructions are like having a teacher there walking you through. I am a little bit braver to try when it doesn't look so complicated as it sounds.

http://allrecipes.com/
This is a great site for searching for recipes. I first discovered this web site eons ago...they had a cookie of the day and a spinner -- you spun the spinner and it came up with a random cookie recipe...that had me hooked. They also have a nice feature that you can change the serving size and it will adjust the ingredients list. Plus the reviews are helpful - some folks have tried or added things so you have even more ideas or avoid issues that may have come up.

http://www.dairygoodness.ca/
What I love about this site is that they have all the MILK CALENDER recipes back from 1974! So cool. I was browsing the other night and there are a few recipes I'd like to try. Gotta be simple and appealing. Anything that's too "fancy pants" and I lose interest.

http://www.recipezaar.com/
This site is very similar to allrecipes.com in that you can change the serving size and get reviews.

Been a very rainy weekend...today it's let up a little. Hope you all find some Sunshine today.

Happy Valentine Anniverary!

Today is our Anniversary! We were married the day before Valentine's Day way back in 1993.

Funny last night we were at Kelsey's for supper and my DH told the waitress that it's our Anniversary weekend...and she asked how long. When we told her she was a bit surprised...seems now-a-days a lot of folks don't last past 5-10 yrs. We didn't tell her we've been a couple for 27 years.

We're going out for a special dinner at The Keg tonight.

It seems like only yesterday (don't I sound like an old-timer). I was so emotional (I guess I still am) and would cry at the drop of a hat...happy or sad tears were never very far from my eyes. Michael looked so handsome waiting for me at the alter. What people don't know is that when we knelt together in front of the church, I heard this crunching noise and I looked over at my handsome groom who nervously chewed on certs. At least he'd have fresh breath! LOL.

It was such a cold February weekend and we opted to take our photos with Vintage War birds in the background at the Warplane Heritage. We didn't really think of how cold the hanger would be. Everyone remembers freezing and my feet (in delicate pumps) were totally frozen by the end of the session.

We had a lovely dinner and dance. I remember feeling so blessed to have my family and friends sharing our day. It was a little overwhelming but it went by so quickly.

Next thing we were whisked off to Jamaica for a lovely relaxing Honeymoon. We arrived home a week later to find that my parents had worked hard all week putting our apartment together (cleaning and stocking the fridge), moving my bedroom suite and setting it up. When we landed in Toronto very late...the flights were all delayed due to the weather...there was a snow storm. We were driving home on the highway at like 3am behind a snow plow...when we got to our apartment the car got stuck in the driveway! We had to go up and get the winter clothes on and come back to dig the car out. It was like 6am before we finally got to bed.

One day, Mommy says "all we'll have it our Memories"...and Muffins. LOL.

Tomorrow we're going to a Christening for our niece, Abbigail (Abby). She's such an adorable little cherub. I got her a beautiful photo album...the cover has a vintage art of a baby and sworski chystals. It's very pretty...I hope they like it.

Well...it's been too long since I've posted. I will try and be better.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!

XO
